How We Work

World Link Partners' purpose is to provide the opportunity for people of Guatemala to make the choices that affect their lives. We do this by linking resources. We link those in need with those with resources. Primarily, we identify small projects that we consider to be most needed and effective and we provide funding and services for these projects. Although World Link Partners does not have its own projects we are currently responsible for the financial support of three projects. If we have any concerns about projects, funding can be terminated at any time, which allows us the freedom to maintain objectivity and to insure that projects are high quality and accountable. We work on behalf of both the donor as well as the recipient.

We carry out our work in primarily four steps:

First: We identify small projects/organizations in need. These are smaller projects that are already working in a village, that have identified community needs, have established trust, have clear goals and objectives, and have an established track record. Projects include educational opportunity (primarily women’s literacy), financial opportunity (small business loans: microfinance), nutrition and access to health services and health education.

Second: We provide resources to these organizations which are primarily: funding, and provision of services. We also provide: professional consultation, networking, and promotion.

Third: We monitor and evaluate. Living on-site has allowed us to be very selective and choose to work with a few small quality projects. We know the project directors well, have visited the projects on numerous occasions. This allows us to work closely with the directors to monitor and evaluate the projects and to insure transparency, effectiveness and trustworthiness.

Fourth: We work on behalf of donors by insuring quality projects, with minimal overhead expenses*. We provide both on-line and personal updates (via e-mail), as well as financial accounting to donors.

Note: All of the project directors we work with have had several years experience in their projects and are committed and dedicated volunteers.

We encourage donors to come to Guatemala, visit or work and the projects they are supporting. World Link will make logistical arrangements for donors to visit the projects and travel throughout the country.
