We support
effective local grass roots projects and/or non government
organizations (NGO's) who work on behalf of those in need.
The NGO's we work with focus on different needs. All
of our projects are located in Guatemala.
World Link
focuses on prevention of problems by providing community
support primarily in small rural
villages. In limited cases we also provide
individualistic support (both to individuals and families).
We carry out our
work in
primarily four steps:
First: We
identify projects/organizations (NGO's) with resource needs. These
projects/NGO's are already working in a village, they have identified community needs,
have clear goals and objectives, and have an established
track record. Our focus is to provide support for small
organizations in need of resources. Projects include education and training,
children’s issues, business development, health, housing,
nutrition, sustainable agriculture and
sanitation/water.
Second:
We provide resources to these organizations. Resources
include funding, provision of medical/dental equipment,
professional consultation, networking, and increasing public
awareness.
Third:
We monitor and evaluate. We
work closely with the NGO's and project directors to monitor and evaluate
the projects, the expenditure of funds, management of projects,
and to insure transparency and sustainability.
Fourth:
We work on behalf of donors. We keep in close touch
by e-mail, providing progress reports and financial accounting to donors.
We encourage donors to come to Guatemala, visit or work with
the projects they are supporting. World Link will make
logistical arrangements for donors to visit the
projects and travel throughout the country.
The
donor's total contribution goes directly project support*.
*Project support includes minimal travel expenses. Our
staff and most of our project directors are volunteers.
